Wabeek’s naturally beautiful surroundings reflect the intimate nature of this sanctuary, its atmosphere reminiscent of Northern Michigan, you may see on the property wildlife such as, deer, fox, and white heron and much, much more. This championship golf course presents challenges as uncompromising as they are daunting.
Five sets of tee boxes on each hole allow golfers of all skill levels to fully enjoy the finest golf experience. From the forward tees the course can play as short as 5200 yards, while the championship tees increase the distance just under 6700 yards with a course rating of 72.9 and a slope rating of 144. The grandeur of this course will provide members with a brilliant test of golf.

Rick Howles was raised in Ortonville, Michigan. At Brandon High School in 1986, he was named to the All-State Golf team by the Michigan State High School Athletic Association. After high school, Rick attended Oakland University where he played on the golf team and earned his degree in Business Management. In 1992, while representing the Oakland Team, Rick was named the Most Valuable Player by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Rick’s P.G.A. apprenticeship began at Atlas Valley C.C. where he was first introduced to instruction. From that point Rick worked his way to becoming the Assistant Professional at Indianwood Golf & C.C., a Wilfred Reid design that has hosted many major championships. During his 8 year tenure at Indiawood Rick held titles such as: Assistant Professional, Director of Instruction & Head Golf Professional.
In 2004, Rick became the Director of Golf Operations at Wabeek Country Club. Upon arriving at Wabeek, Rick has set out to run a professional, full-service operation where both members and guests can fully enjoy themselves. Rick also has a passion to help players improve their golf games. He offers 21 years of teaching experience to players of all levels. He has studied and taken lessons from the likes of: Jim McLean, Rick Smith, Hank Haney & Scott Hamilton. Rick utilizes the V-1 teaching software providing detailed video analysis of the swing.
